COURT: The Accused, you stand convicted by the jury’s verdict of one count of trafficking in dangerous drugs. I have taken into account what your counsel has said on your behalf.

The drugs involved are 8.21 grammes of a crystalline solid containing 8.11 grammes of methamphetamine hydrochloride and 146.53 grammes of a powder containing 113.04 grammes of ketamine.

As to the appropriate approach to sentencing on account of trafficking different types of drugs, I follow the approach indicated by the Court of Appeal in the case of Wong Kin Kau, decided on 4 May 2010. In following that approach, I will do so having considered everything urged on your behalf by your counsel.

Having considered everything, I adopt a starting point of 7½ years and, there being no mitigating factor, I shall send you to prison to 7½ years. You are sentenced to imprisonment for 7½ years.
