1. This is a trial of the plaintiff’s claim against the defendant for wages and other payments which the plaintiff claims are due and owing from the defendant as his employer. The claim is tried here in District Court instead of the Labour Tribunal because the performance of the employment contract (with the defendant according to the plaintiff, and with third parties according to the defendant) was outside Hong Kong and therefore conflicts of law elements may be involved: see [2021] HKDC 264
