1. During the night of 3rd and 4th February 1992, a fire broke out at the Shek Kong Detention Centre for Vietnamese migrants. A number of men, women and children perished. Subsequently, a prosecution arising out of the incident was commenced, and 13 people were indicted on charges of murder and riot. Not surprisingly, the trial has become a notorious one.
