1. The first aspect of this hearing is an application for leave to appeal against conviction by two Defendants who were convicted of rape (and other offences) upon a 21 year old Indonesian girl before V. Bokhary, J. and a jury on 22 April 2002 after a trial lasting some 11 days. The verdicts on the counts of rape had been unanimous. For the sake of convenience we shall refer to them as the first and third Defendants.
