This is an appeal, with the consent of the Respondents, against an arbitrator's decision to award compound interest on sums found in two Awards to be due to Shimizu Corporation arising out of a construction dispute between the corporation and the Hong Kong Government. The point for determination is whether the Arbitrator, Mr. Brian Knight Q.C., had the power to award compound interest, as opposed to simple interest, on the sums he found due to Shimizu.
