1. Appeal allowed.

2. Whilst the worst type of gang rape could attract sentences of up to 15 years, we are of the view that the rapes committed by the appellants did not fall within the worst category. Their sentences are accordingly reduced in the following manner –

D1’s sentences of 10 years on each charge are reduced to 8 years on each charge.

D2’s sentences of 12 years on each charge are reduced to 10 years on each charge.
