COURT: Accused, you stand convicted on your own plea of guilty on one count of trafficking in dangerous drugs.

The drugs involved are 1,019.50 grammes of a mixture containing 386.92 grammes of heroin hydrochloride and 164.22 grammes of monoacetylmorphine hydrochloride.

I consider the appropriate starting point for this quantity of drug to be in the region of 18 years’ imprisonment.

Having taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf, particularly your plea of guilty, I will give you the full one-third discount thereby reducing the sentence to one of 12 years’ imprisonment.

You will therefore go to prison for 12 years.
