COURT: Chan Siu-ping, you stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. You have pleaded guilty at the Magistrates’ Court and have been committed to the High Court for sentence.
The quantity of drugs involved is 2.24 kilogrammes of a powder containing 1.74 kilogrammes of ketamine. For that quantity of drugs I adopt a starting point of 16 years’ imprisonment.
I have taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf including your plea of guilty for which I shall give you the full one-third discount, thereby reducing the starting point of 16 years’ imprisonment to one of 10 years and 8 months’ imprisonment.
You are therefore sentenced to 10 years and 8 months’ imprisonment.
