COURT: Accused, you stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. You have pleaded guilty at the Magistrates’ Court and you have been committed to the High Court for sentence.

The quantity of drugs involved is 76.9 grammes of a mixture containing 49.44 grammes of heroin hydrochloride and 8.46 grammes of monoacetylmorphine hydrochloride.

These drugs were imported into Hong Kong which calls for enhancement.

All things considered and including enhancement I adopt a starting point of 9 years’ imprisonment.

I have taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf. There is really no other real mitigation apart from your early plea of guilty for which I shall give you

the full one-third discount, reducing the starting point to one of 6 years’ imprisonment.

You are therefore sentenced to 6 years’ imprisonment.
