COURT: Accused, you stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. The quantity of drugs involved is 447.76 grammes of a powder containing 309.29 grammes of cocaine. These drugs were imported into Hong Kong.
All things considered, I adopt a starting point of 13½ years’ imprisonment and enhance it by 1 year, making a total of 14½ years.
I have taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf, including your plea of guilty. I am prepared to give you a discount which is slightly more than one-third, reducing that sentence from the starting point to one of 9½ years’ imprisonment.
You are therefore sentenced to 9½ years’ imprisonment.
