of the Sentence in the above Case

---------------------------------

COURT: The accused, you have pleaded guilty in the Magistrates’ Court to one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug, and you have been committed to this court for sentence.

I have taken into account everything urged on your behalf.

The drugs involved in this case consist of 111.63 grammes of a crystalline solid containing 110.41 grammes of methamphetamine hydrochloride.

These drugs have been imported into Hong Kong and therefore it calls for enhancement.

In my view, the appropriate starting point is in the region of 11 years. I will enhance it by 6 months due to the aggravating factor, making a total starting point of 11½ years’ imprisonment.

I have taken into account everything that has been urged on your behalf in mitigation, particularly your plea of guilty, and I shall give you the full one-third discount, thereby reducing the sentence to one of 7 years and 8 months’ imprisonment.

You are therefore sentenced to 7 years and 8 months’ imprisonment.
