COURT: D1, I note what has been said by your counsel. You do have a very poor record. I do accept that you have pleaded guilty at the earliest possible opportunity. I note that you were less than co-operative with the police at the scene, shall we say, telling stories which now you retract.

There is little mitigation apart from your plea of guilty that I can see.

On the 1st charge, that is, of trafficking in 9.25 grammes of methamphetamine hydrochloride, “Ice”, and 1.11 grammes of ketamine, I take a starting point of 7 years, reduced to 56 months for your plea of guilty; that is, 4 years 8 months.

The amount of heroin was not large in respect of the 2nd charge, just under 2 grammes, and that is simple possession. That is not a figure that in my mind triggers latent risk. I take on that charge a starting point of 15 months reduced to 10 months. That will be served consecutively.

That is a total then of 66 months’ imprisonment, 5½ years.
