COURT: Accused, I have taken into account everything urged on your behalf. You stand convicted on your own plea of guilty to one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug.
The drugs involved are 0.84 kilogramme of a solid containing 0.37 kilogramme of cocaine.
In my view, the appropriate starting point would be in the region of 14½ years’ imprisonment.
Having taken into account everything urged on your behalf, particularly your plea of guilty and your co-operation with the police, I shall give you the full one-third discount, thereby reducing the sentence to one of 9 years and 8 months’ imprisonment.
You are therefore sentenced to 9 years and 8 months’ imprisonment.
