COURT: The accused, I have taken into account everything urged on your behalf.
You stand convicted on one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. You have pleaded guilty in the Magistrates’ Court and you have been committed to the High Court for sentence. The quantity of drugs involved is 621.12 grammes of a powder containing 524.83 grammes of ketamine.
All things considered, I considered a starting point of 11 years to be appropriate.
Having considered everything urged on your behalf including your guilty plea, I shall give you the full one-third discount thereby reducing the sentence from the starting point to one of 7 years 4 months’ imprisonment.
You are therefore sentenced to 7 years and 4 months’ imprisonment.
