COURT: Mr Wong, this has taken a great deal up of your life, has it not? And it is all as a result of the fact that, unfortunately, and for a very long time, you have struggled with drug abuse. It is a mark of who you are, a person I did not observe in court, that you have had a team of people coming and supporting you throughout this trial. I have noticed that. I give you credit for that, because sadly, when you were giving evidence you did not do yourself justice.

But I am hoping now that you have faith in our system of law. Because the jury listened to the evidence and for their part, they did not wish to see you convicted of trafficking in dangerous drugs.

I know that your struggle with drugs will be a life-long struggle. But I suspect you do not want to come before the court ever again.

I have taken into account the period of time you spent on bail originally after your arrest, the period of time you spent serving your sentence as a result of the first trial and the period of time you have spent in custody during this trial and I now sentence you to a term of imprisonment which allows for your immediate release today.
