Updates

New features and changes, newest first.

  1. Interface

    Digest and About pages redesigned

The Digest now uses the same layout as New judgments, with subjects listed on the side. The About page follows one real judgment to show how BabelCite collects, links and searches cases.

  2. Search quality

Accents no longer matter in keyword search

A search for "nee" finds "née", and "Societe" finds "Société". Chinese punctuation now counts as a word break, so keyword searches in Chinese judgments find more matches.

  3. New feature

    New judgments page

See each week's newly published judgments, grouped by court, with a short account of the facts. Filter by subject. Judgments added since your last visit are marked NEW.

  4. New feature

Cited cases are links inside judgments

When you read a judgment, each cited case links to its BabelCite page. Later short references to the same case are linked too.

  5. New feature

    Search by citation

Keyword search accepts full or partial citations, such as [2010] 2 HKLRD 1 or 11 HKCFAR 117, on their own or with a party name. Results include later judgments that cite it. If a citation looks mistyped, we search the corrected form and tell you.

  6. Search quality

AI search shows the matching paragraph

Each AI result shows the paragraph of the judgment that best matches your search, instead of the case heading. "Show more" adds the paragraphs before and after it.

  7. Search quality

Search for several concepts at once

Separate concepts with commas or semicolons, for example "unfair prejudice; share acquisition". Each concept must appear in the case. Words in one concept must appear close together.

  8. Bug fix

    Quoted phrases match exactly

Words in quotes, for example "continuing duty", now match only that exact phrase. Before, each word was matched separately.
