1. This is an appeal and cross appeal in an action by an estate agent to recover damages for breach of contract made by the defendant. The action was heard by Deputy Judge Lok sitting in the District Court. By judgment dated 17 January 2000, the Deputy Judge gave judgment in favour of the plaintiff for the sum of HK$56,508 plus interest. That sum was the equivalent of half a month's rental for the premises in question at the rate at which the premises were ultimately let.
