1. On 23rd July 1996 at Tuen Mun Magistrates' Court, the Appellant pleaded guilty to two charges. The first was possessing a Hong Kong identity card belonging to another, and the second was remaining in Hong Kong without the lawful authority of the Director of Immigration. He was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment on the first charge, and to 15 months' imprisonment on the second. The sentences were to be served concurrently with each other, making 15 months' imprisonment in all. He now appeals
