COURT: The defendant has pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug, contrary to section 4 of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance. She is committed to this court for sentence.
In the afternoon on 18 June 2023, the defendant was intercepted by police officers inside Hang Hau MTR Station. Inside one shoulder bag the defendant was carrying, police officers found 15 grammes of methamphetamine hydrochloride.
The street value was estimated to be over HK$7,400.
The defendant admitted in the Magistrates’ Court and today admitted in front of me possession of the ‘Ice’ for the purpose of trafficking.
The defendant is now 25, educated up to Form 4 level. She has one criminal record unrelated and prior to her arrest she worked as a waitress in a restaurant.
The starting point for trafficking in 15 grammes of ‘Ice’ is one of 7 years and 4 months’ imprisonment. By pleading guilty at her earliest opportunity, she is entitled to a full one-third discount.
In conclusion, for the sole offence the defendant stands convicted, she is sentenced to 58 months’ imprisonment.
