On the 5th October 1982 the two plaintiff banks, which for the purposes of this judgment can be treated as one commenced an action against 5 defendants including Mr. Folch Vernet, who was their manager in Hong Kong until October 1981, claiming damages and other relief by reason of the alleged negligence, fraud, or breach of trust of such defendants.
