J U D G M E N T

--------------------

1. This was an appeal against a sentence of 15 months for being in Hong Kong illegally. This was a perfectly proper sentence and in line with the normal range of sentence for offences of this nature. The Appellant however persuaded me that his father was ill and that he had come to Hong Kong to earn money to pay for his father's hospitalization. As an act of mercy, therefore, I reduced the sentence to one of 12 months.
