Coram: Briggs, C.J. Date of Judgment: 10 February 1979 ----------------- JUDGMENT ----------------- 1. In this case the appellant pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and was sentenced to a fine of $300 and disqualified from holding a driving licence for twelve months. The disqualification relates to all types of vehicles. 2. The appellant struck a 13 year old boy, who was on a zebra-crossing. 3. Nothing was said in the court below as to the previous record of the appellant, who is a taxi driver, and it appeared that the gravamen of the charge was that he did not reduce his speed, which was about 22 m.p.h. when approaching the zebra-crossing. The victim of the accident was not seriously hurt. 4. In my view, this is a case where the appeal should be allowed to the extent that the disqualification imposed on the appellant is confined to taxi and public light bus licences only. And I so order.
