The appellant pleaded guilty to housebreaking and larceny. He climbed up to the third floor of premises in Hankow Road, there removed the bar from a window and obtained access into the flat through the window. Having stolen the property listed in the charge, he went out through a door and climbed down a drain pipe at the rear of the premises. He had previous convictions of a similar nature - having been found on enclosed premises with intent and been in possession of housebreaking implements in 1961 ...... and the last similar offence was in 1965. The learned magistrate, in view of the seriousness and prevalence of this type of offence, passed a sentence of 24 months' imprisonment. The appellant has been able to advance no good reason why this sentence should be reduced and the appeal is dismissed.
