CACC000673/1968 IN THE SUPREME COURT OF HONG KONG APPELLATE JURISDICTION CRIMINAL APPEAL NO.673 OF 1968 -----------------
Coram: Huggins, J. Date of Judgment: 4 December 1968 ----------------- JUDGMENT ----------------- Huggins, J: 1. The appellant appeals against the sentence of 15 months' imprisonment imposed for unlawful possession of dangerous drugs. He pleaded guilty to this offence. 2. The facts were that on the 10th October he was convicted of smoking dangerous drugs and was sentenced to 6 months' imprisonment. While awaiting trial in the Victoria Reception Centre he was found in possession of a small packet of dangerous drugs. He had a long record involving many convictions for drugs offences and the learned magistrate expressly said that he was passing a deterrent sentence in view of the fact that this offence was committed within one of Her Majesty's prisons. 3. In my view the sentence imposed was a proper one and the appeal must be dismissed. 4th December 1968. Representation: Appellant in person Mr. Evans for the Respondent |
