COURT: Ip Chi-hung, you stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. You have pleaded guilty at the Magistrates Court and you have been committed to High Court for sentence.
The quantity of drugs involved is 498.30 grammes of a powder containing 393.13 grammes of ketamine. In my view, the appropriate starting point would be in the region of 10 years.
You are 21 years old. I have taken into account everything that has been urged on your behalf including your background, your young age and in particular your early plea of guilty. I am prepared therefore to give you a full one-third discount. In the result, I sentence you to 6 years and 8 months' imprisonment.
