CRIMINAL APPEAL NO. 691 of 1968

-----------------

BETWEEN
LEUNG SUN Appellants
NG HING
AND
THE QUEEN Respondent

Coram: Huggins, J.

Date of Judgment: 12 December 1968

JUDGMENT

-----------------

Huggins, J:

1. Both appellants appeal against sentences of eighteen months' imprisonment imposed for unlawful possession of dangerous drugs. The police raided premises in Shek Kip Mei Resettlement Estate and they found the two appellants and a woman actively engaged in packing over 30 grammes of dangerous drugs. Both appellants have previous convictions under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance and the learned magistrate justifiably inferred from what he was told that these drugs were intended for the purpose of distribution. In these circumstances the sentences imposed by the learned magistrate were very proper sentences.

2. The appeals are dismissed.

12th December, 1968.
