COURT: Accused, you stand convicted on your own plea of guilty of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug.

The drugs involved are 56.35 grammes of a mixture containing 46.78 grammes of heroin hydrochloride. For that quantity of drugs, I consider the appropriate starting point to be in the region of 7½ years’ imprisonment.

I have taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf, particularly your plea of guilty and your co-operation with police. I shall give you the full one-third discount.

I will sentence you to 5 years’ imprisonment and you will therefore go to prison for 5 years.
