COURT: You stand convicted on one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. You have pleaded guilty at the Magistrates’ Court and you have been committed to the High Court for sentence.
The quantity of drugs involved is 114.18 grammes of a mixture containing 69.37 grammes of heroin hydrochloride. All things considered, I adopt a starting point of 8½ years, enhance it by 6 months, thereby making a total starting point of 9 years.
I have taken into account everything that has been so ably urged in mitigation on your behalf by Mr Mayne, which includes your early plea of guilty and your co-operation with the police upon arrest. I shall give you the full one-third discount for that.
You are therefore sentenced to 6 years' imprisonment.
