HKSAR v. Wu Weixiong

DCCC1378/2009 IN THE DISTRICT COURT OF THE HONG KONG SPECIAL ADMINISTRATIVE REGION CRIMINAL CASE NO. 1378 OF 2009 -----------------------------
-----------------------------
------------------------------ Reasons for Sentence ------------------------------ 1.D1, you have been convicted after trial of Charge 2. That is an offence of resisting a police officer in the due execution of his duty, contrary to section 36(b) of the Offences against the Person Ordinance, Cap. 212. 2.The facts are well known to the court. The facts have been referred to at length within my verdict. The simple fact is that fortunately the officer was not severely injured. The injuries were very light indeed. Having said that, the courts will not tolerate anyone preventing police officers going about their lawful duty, especially resulting in acts of violence. 3.You are a man of clear record. You will be sentenced in all the circumstances, and I note the limited mitigation. With my invitation, no criticism of Mr Lam, there is no point in putting a lot before me. As given, therefore, you will go to prison for a period of 42 days. I thereby order your immediate release and presumably you will be repatriated to the mainland.
