COURT: Accused, you stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. You have pleaded guilty in the Magistrates’ Court and have been committed to the High Court for sentence.

The quantity of drugs involved is 510.70 grammes of a solid containing 414 grammes of cocaine.

I consider that the appropriate starting point for that quantity of drug to be in the region of 15 years.

I have taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf. There is really no real mitigation apart from your plea of guilty, for which I shall give you the full one‑third discount, reducing the starting point to one of 10 years’ imprisonment.

You are therefore sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment.
