of the Sentence in the above Case
--------------------------------------------
COURT: Accused, you stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. You have pleaded guilty in the Magistrates’ Court and you have been committed to the High Court for sentence.
The quantity of drugs involved is 838.59 grammes of a powder and solid containing 466.23 grammes of cocaine. These drugs have been imported into Hong Kong from abroad, so there is an element of aggravation.
All things included, including enhancement, I adopt a starting point of 17 years. I have taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf. There is no real mitigation apart from your plea of guilty for which I shall give you the full one-third discount, reducing the sentence to one of 11 years and 4 months' imprisonment.
You are therefore sentenced to 11 years and 4 months' imprisonment.
