Reasons for Sentence

---------------------

1.You pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a forged ID card and one count of possession of an ID card relating to another person.

2.Facts revealed that on 1 June this year you were stopped and searched by police and it was found in your possession three ID cards in the name of others.  You admitted that two of the three ID cards were forged and you were rewarded HK$3,000 for taking care of these three cards.

3.As to the two forged ID cards, you were aware that they would be given to Vietnamese illegal immigrants to seek employment in Hong Kong.  Investigation confirmed that the third ID card belonged to a Hong Kong citizen who had his ID card stolen in Shenzhen some time in 2007. 

4.In sentencing you, this court will take into consideration the seriousness of the charges and the facts of the case, in particular, the fact that these ID cards were intended to be used by illegal workers seeking employment in Hong Kong.  This court will also take into consideration the totality principle and also your plea of guilty. 

5.For each of the three charges, I will take 15 months as a starting point.  Because of your plea I reduce it to 10 months. All the sentences are to run concurrent to each other.  That is, a total term of 10 months.
