COURT: Accused, you stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. You have pleaded guilty at the Magistrates Court and you have been committed to this court for sentence.
The quantity of drugs involved in this case is 1.2 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 0.71 kilogramme of heroin hydrochloride and 0.12 kilogramme of monoacetylmorphine hydrochloride. You have imported these drugs into Hong Kong and therefore enhancement is called for.
All things considered, and including enhancement, I adopt a starting point of 22 years’ imprisonment. Having taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf, I shall give you the full one-third discount, thereby reducing the starting point of 22 years to one of 14 years and 8 months.
You are therefore sentenced to 14 years and 8 months’ imprisonment.
