COURT: Chan King-long, you stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. You have pleaded guilty at the Magistrates' Court and have been committed to the High Court for sentence. The quantity of drugs involved is 499.88 grammes of a powder containing 407.20 grammes of ketamine. The drugs were imported into Hong Kong from across the border.
All things considered, I adopt a starting point of 10 years, enhance it by 9 months, making a total of 10 years and 9 months. I have taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf including your early plea of guilty and your co-operation with the police. I shall give you the full one-third discount, reducing the starting point to one of 7 years and 2 months. You are therefore sentenced to 7 years and 2 months’ imprisonment.
