COURT: Lam Chong-fai, you stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. You have pleaded guilty at the Magistrates’ Court and have been committed to the High Court for sentence.
The quantity of drugs involved are 107.06 grammes of powder containing 67.55 grammes of cocaine.
I have taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf. There is really no other real mitigation apart from your early plea of guilty, for which I shall give you a full one-third discount.
All things considered, I adopt a starting point of 8½ years’ imprisonment. Giving you the full one-third discount, that will reduce your starting point to one of 5 years and 8 months.
You are therefore sentenced to 5 years and 8 months’ imprisonment.
