COURT: Tahir Nawaz, you have been found guilty of murdering your wife and the mother of your three children.
Why you should have done so is not readily discernible from the evidence. What the evidence does show, however, is that it was a killing well planned and brutally carried out; well planned, because it involved the use of an excuse to entice the deceased to go to a remote place to be drugged; gruesomely carried out, because after putting her to sleep, you cut her throat so deep that she was almost decapitated.
I should also mention that there is no support for the claim that the deceased was a willing sacrifice. Even on the afternoon before her death she was making arrangements to see her friend and cousin.
Overall, this is a heinous crime, atrociously defended at trial by employing some of the worst possible allegations against the police and other players in the criminal justice system: physical violence, exhibit planting and perjury, to suit prosecutorial needs. In so doing, you have shown to have not a shadow of remorse for what you have done.
As required by law, I sentence you to life imprisonment.
