COURT: The accused, you stand convicted of one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug.

You have pleaded guilty in the Magistrates’ Court, and you have been committed to the High Court for sentence.

The drugs involved in this case are 998.75 grammes of a powder containing 396.93 grammes of ketamine. These drugs were imported into Hong Kong from across the border, and therefore calls for enhancement.

All things considered, I adopt a starting point of 10 years, enhance it by 1 year, making a total of 11 years.

I have taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf, including the letters that your counsel has handed up, and I shall give you the full one-third discount, thereby reducing the starting point to one of 7 years and 4 months.

You are therefore sentenced to 7 years and 4 months’ imprisonment.
