of the Sentence in the above Case
---------------------------------
COURT: Defendant, you have been convicted after trial of unlawfully trafficking in a dangerous drug, namely, 5,021.57 grammes of a powder containing 1,718.18 grammes of ketamine.
The drugs, valued at about HK$0.5 million, were found in his flat during a police raid.
The defendant has one previous record which is not similar to the present case back in February 2011 for which he was sentenced to a 160 hours Community Service Order.
I have heard all about your background during the trial in the evidence given by your then girlfriend, now wife.
I apply the tariff in the case of Hii Siew Cheng, namely that for over 1 kilogramme of ketamine the sentence is 14 years upwards.
On the facts of this case I consider 15 years appropriate for a person of hitherto good character. Although you have a criminal record, I treat it as if you have a good character.
That is the sentence that I pass.
