COURT: The accused, you have pleaded guilty in the Magistrates’ Court to trafficking in 21.76 grammes of a crystalline solid containing 21.19 grammes of methamphetamine hydrochloride, 0.77 gramme of a solid containing 0.51 gramme of cocaine, and 32 tablets containing 0.38 gramme of nimetazepam. You have been committed to this court for sentence today.

Your counsel has submitted to me that you only intended to traffic 13.58 grammes of the “Ice” in question and that the rest of the drugs were intended for your own consumption. I have given care in considering that submission, and having considered everything, I am prepared to accept that submission.

I have also taken into account everything urged on your behalf. In my view, it is appropriate, in all the circumstances, to adopt a starting point of 7 years’ imprisonment. The only real mitigation available to you is your guilty plea. For that I shall give you a discount of one-third.

Accordingly, I sentence you to 4 years and 8 months’ imprisonment.
