of the Sentence in the above Case
---------------------------------
COURT: The accused, you stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. You have pleaded guilty at the Magistrates’ Court and you have been committed to the High Court for sentence.
I have considered everything urged on your behalf.
The quantity of drugs involved is 1.45 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 0.76 kilogramme of heroin hydrochloride.
These drugs were imported into Hong Kong, and call for enhancement.
All things considered, I adopt a starting point of 20½ years’ imprisonment, enhance it by 1 year, making a total of 21½ years’ imprisonment.
Having taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf, I shall give you the full one-third discount, thereby reducing the starting point of 21½ years’ imprisonment to one of 14 years and 4 months’ imprisonment.
You will therefore go to prison for 14 years and 4 months.
