COURT: Accused, you stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug.
You pleaded guilty at the Magistrates’ Court and you have been committed to this court for sentence. The quantity of drugs involved is 1.32 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 0.77 kilogramme of heroin hydrochloride. These drugs were imported into Hong Kong and therefore call for enhancement.
All things considered, including your medical condition, I am prepared to be as lenient as I can and I adopt a starting point of 20 years’ imprisonment, enhance it by a year making a total of 21 years’ imprisonment as a starting point.
I have taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf, there being no other real mitigation apart from your plea of guilty for which I shall give the full one-third discount, I reduce the sentence to one of 14 years’ imprisonment.
You are therefore sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment.
