COURT: Accused, I have taken into account everything urged on your behalf. You stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. You have pleaded guilty at the Magistrates’ Court and you have been committed to the High Court today for sentence.
The quantity of drugs involved is 0.94 kilogrammeof a mixture containing 0.60 kilogramme of heroin hydrochloride. These drugs were imported into Hong Kong and therefore calls for enhancement.
All things considered, I adopt a starting point of 20 years, enhance it by 1 year, making a total of 21 years.
Having taken everything into account, including your plea of guilty, I shall give you the full one-third discount thereby reducing the sentence to one of 14 years’ imprisonment from that starting point.
You are therefore sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment.
