COURT: Accused, I have taken into account everything urged on your behalf and I have read the letter which you have written to the court.
You stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug. You have pleaded guilty in the Magistrates Court and you have been committed to this court for sentence today.
The quantity of drugs involved is 1,598.33 grammes of a powder containing 370.44 grammes of cocaine. These drugs were imported into Hong Kong and therefore calls for enhancement.
All things considered, I adopt a starting point of 14½ years’ imprisonment, enhance it by 6 months, making a total of 15 years’ imprisonment.
Having taken into account everything urged in mitigation on your behalf, I consider that a discount of one-third should be given to you, thereby reducing the sentence to one of 10 years’ imprisonment.
You are therefore sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment.
