COURT: Chan Tam-fu, you have been found guilty by the jury of the murder of your wife, Lee Lai-wa.

This is a sad and tragic case. You brought a sharp knife with you and went looking for your wife at the restaurant where she worked. You stabbed her with that knife with such force that bones were fractured and her vital internal organs were damaged.

She was certified dead shortly afterwards. In killing her, you not only took away her life, you also deprived your own son of his mother. You have broken your own family.

In law, there is only one sentence I can pass upon you for this crime. You are sentenced to life imprisonment for this offence of murder.
