COURT: Chan Oi-hing, I have taken into account everything urged on your behalf.
You have pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. The quantity of drugs involved is 2 kilogrammes of a crystalline solid containing 1.94 kilogrammes of methamphetamine hydrochloride. These drugs were imported into Hong Kong from across the border.
All things considered, I adopt a starting point suggested by your counsel of 24 years, and enhance it by 2 years, making a total of 26 years.
Having taken into account everything that has been urged on your behalf, including your plea of guilty, your co-operation with the police and your clear record which is accepted by the prosecution for the purpose of this case, I shall give you a slightly more than one-third discount, thereby reducing the starting point to one of 17 years’ imprisonment.
You are therefore sentenced to 17 years’ imprisonment.
