CRIMINAL CASE NO 1010 OF 2014

----------------------

  HKSAR
  v
  Wong Ho-ming

----------------------

Before: HH Judge Woodcock
Date: 1 April 2015 at 10.28 pm
Present: Mr A M Omar, on fiat, for HKSAR
Mr Jackson Poon, instructed by Wong, Kwan & Co, for the defendant
Offence: (1) Causing death by dangerous driving (危險駕駛引致他人死亡)
(2) Using a motor vehicle with an illegal visual display unit (使用裝有非法視象顯示器的汽車)

---------------------

Reasons for Sentence

---------------------

1.I have acquitted you of Charge 1. Charge 2 you pleaded guilty to on the first day of trial, using a motor vehicle with an illegal visual display unit.

2.It was not in operation at the time, but it is illegal to have one, depending on the position of that unit in your vehicle.

3.Charge 2 would normally attract a financial penalty.

4.You have had a driving licence for 10 years, you have nothing similar by way of conviction, you have one previous that is not similar.

5.I intend to impose a fine for this charge, Charge 2, and it is a fine of $1,000.  That will come from your bail.
