1. At the conclusion of the hearing, we announced our decision to dismiss the appeal. Costs were awarded to the respondent, who sought them, against the appellants, who did not resist them. We now hand down our reasons for dismissing the appeal. They are contained in the judgments of Mr Justice Ribeiro PJ and Lord Hoffmann NPJ.
