--------------------- Reasons for Sentence --------------------- 1.The defendant pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a dangerous drug and one account of assaulting a police officer. 2.Facts revealed that on 26 March this year at around 3.23 am, you were stopped and searched by the police and it was found in your possession a plastic bag, containing 2.55 grammes of powder and containing 1.89 grammes of ketamine. During the arrest, you assaulted a police officer who suffered from superficial injuries as a result. You were subsequently subdued by both police officers. 3.The court asked for a DATC report before sentencing. The report confirmed, amongst other things, that you were no longer a drug dependent. 4.In sentencing you, I will take into account your plea of guilty, the mitigation put forward by your counsel and also the totality principle. 5.For each charge, I will take six months’ starting point because of your plea, I reduce it to four months and the sentence is to run concurrently to each other; meaning the total sentence being four months.
