1. The applicant, a practising barrister of 19 years’ call, was convicted on 26 March 2012 by HH Judge Woodcock of five charges of Champerty, contrary to common law and section 101I of the Criminal Procedure Ordinance, Cap 221. He was sentenced on the same day to a total of 3½ years’ imprisonment. He appealed against both his conviction and sentence.
