Leong Ma Li and the Lam family entered into a joint venture in November 2013 to develop an e-commerce platform, forming High Fashion New Media Corporation Ltd ("New Media") with HFA holding 65% and Hansen's Leong holding 35%. New Media wholly owned Longford Information and Technology Co Ltd in Shanghai, which maintained an ICBC capital account. Controversies arose in 2014 regarding the operation of the ICBC capital account, with the Lams alleging an arrangement ("the Protocol") requiring multiple signatures for transactions. On 5 December 2014, Chow J granted an injunction restraining Leong from dealing with the ICBC capital account except in accordance with the Protocol. Leong was found guilty of contempt in 2017 for earlier breaches. After October 2017, Leong resigned as Longford's chairman, handed her seal to Tong (Longford's financial controller), and instructed Tong to seek approval from both shareholders for expenses. New Media brought second contempt proceedings alleging further breaches by Tong's operation of the account between April 2016 and July 2020, totalling approximately RMB 64.7 million.
